ColorsColors are everywhere we look. The world is full of different shades and all of these have an impact on us. Some colors quickly catch our eye whereas others are subtle and seem to fade into the background. Knowing how colors affect people will have a huge impact on your advertising.

When trying to select a color or colors for your advertising campaign, you should first think about how you want to influence your customers. How do you want them to feel when they see an ad for your business or are visiting your building?

Bright red is a power color. If you want people to get excited and have their heartbeat increase, bright red is the best choice. It is often used to catch people’s attention and to get them motivated. Car companies frequently choose Red because it is an exciting and fast color.

Dark green is a color that evokes life. It is commonly used by companies who are eco-friendly. It is also the color, which is often associated with money and therefore often used by companies that deal with investments.

Light green is calming. It is known to relax people. In large amounts, it can slow a person’s heart rate, which is why it is the color often used in doctor’s offices. Light blue also has the same effect.

Light blue reminds people of the sky or the ocean. It creates a feeling of endlessness. It is also the shade that has the widest appeal. Many people use this color in their online advertising because they feel will it is one of the least offensive shades.

Pink is often considered a young color. When seeing this shade, many think of little girls. Additionally, it is a relaxing color, which is why it is often used to paint children’s bedrooms. However, it is not an eye-catching shade; rather it is one that creates a slow and calm atmosphere. It is often used by companies that want to cater to the young or by places that want people to feel at ease.

Yellow can be one of the most effective colors in advertising, but it can also be one of the worst if it is not used properly. When used in large amounts, yellow can be overpowering especially when a very bright shade is used. In fact, bright yellow in large amounts can make people feel nauseous. However, it is a shade which attracts the eye. This is why it is used for danger and caution.  When using this shade, it is important to keep it limited. Many businesses like to use the color yellow for letters and small effects rather than as a background color.

Take the time to learn about colors before you make a final choice. In fact, play around with different combinations to see which ones create the perfect mood and atmosphere for your business.
