How To Wear Lanyards

The Shoulder Lanyard

Lanyards can be worn over a person’s shoulder. This kind of lanyard is frequently more decorative than practical. This cord is often used by military organizations and clubs. They use the color of the cord to indicate a person’s rank, allegiance or designation. In some situations the lanyard is used to hold or carry medals or signs of achievements.

The Traditional Lanyard

The traditional lanyard dates back hundreds of years. It was the creation of sailors on the high seas. These old lanyards like the ones today form a complete circle. To be worn, the user must slip the cord over their head.

Modern lanyards do not require that the user tie on the item that they need. Instead, the wearer can use various clasps that will hold different items. Some clasps have one function whereas others are capable of carrying many things.

The Double Ended Lanyard

This style of cord is a simple strand. To be used a person has to make it into a circle. This can be done in a number of different ways. One way is to attach both ends of the cord to the same item. This method is the same as a neck strap; a double ended lanyard can replace straps on cameras or binoculars. It can be used to carry small items like glasses provided that the user has the right attachments.

The Belt Lanyard

This title is a bit deceiving because both the double ended lanyard and the traditional lanyard can be used as belt cords. People choose to attach lanyards to their belts or other pieces of clothing for a number of reasons.
